David Eller, son of John and Elizabeth Ray Vannoy, was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina about 1836. He married Ellen Colvard about 1858. He was a Captain in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. After the war ended, his family moved to Tennessee, where he is found living in Grundy Co., Tennessee in 1880. The family lived near Tracy City, which is located in Grundy Co.
