       Spouse: Thomas Brown (Abt 1769-1855)
Marr: 15 Dec 1795 - Orange County, NC

General Notes: Husband - James Murray

The 1790 census for Orange County lists only three James Murray heads of household. The other two would be James' sister Elizabeth's husband, James Murray (1725-1810) and his son by a prior marriage, James Murray (1752-1821). One of these three is, presumably, the James Murray who is listed as a Regulator or Regulator sympathizer.
The Regulators were active in the late 1760's protesting British taxes , fees, etc., through force of arms if necessary. They met the Brittis h in the Battle of Alamance on May 16, 1771 and were crushed. North Carolinians argue that this, and not the Battle of Lexington and Concord, several years later (April 19, 1775), was the first battle of the Revolutionary War.
