In the "Description Book maintained by the Corporation of The Hull Trinity House he was described in 1887 as 5 feet 8 inches tall with brown hair and eyes. At the time of his death he lived at 242 Marlborough Ave., Kingston upon Hull. His wife, Kate, was still living and probated his estate, which consisted of 4,551 pounds or about $150,000.
