Soon after their marriage they removed to Jeffferson County, Iowa , making their home there until the spring of 1875 [1873], at which time they moved to Clay County, Nebraska. Her husband died on their homestead, eleven miles northwest of Harvard, Aug. 10th 1876. To them were born ten children, five boys and five girls, all of whom are living . Mrs. M. A. Hockett of this city, Mrs. A. F. Knorr of Hastings, Mrs . Fannie Case of Giltner, of the daughters, and Thomas, David, Frank and Robert of the sons, were present at the funeral. She confessed her faith in the Redeemer at an early age and lived a faithful Christian life until the end. During her sojourn in Harvardshe was a member of the Christian church and at the time of her death was a member of the Salem Baptist Church.
All her children are earnest, christian men and women, leaders in all good works in their several localities--One son, David, is a Baptist minister at Long Pine, Nebraska. During her last illness of many months she was patient and never complaining. After the death of her husband she made her home with some one of her children. Her funeral took place from the christian church Thursday afternoon at 2'o'clock, Rev. V .E. Shirley officiating. The attendance of relatives, friends and old neighbors was large. The floral tributes were numerous and fine. The clerks of the grocery department of Stein Bros. store in Hastings of which her son Robert T. is foreman, sent a beautiful offering. Interment was in Harvard Cemetery.

DEATH: The following is an obituary from the Harvard Courier dated 19 April 1923, page 1 column 2, about David Eller, son of William M. and Catharine [Parnell] Eller, who died on 15 April 1925 at the age of sixty-three years, 11 months and 11 days.
DAVID ELLER - David Eller was born May 4, 1859, near Fairfield, Iowa . In April 1873 he came with his parents to Nebraska, where they settled on a homestead 12 miles northwest of Harvard. At the age of 16, the cares of home were heaped upon him by the death of his father. The same year he was converted and united with the Salem Baptist church , of which he became a conscientious and faithful worker. In May 1880 he was united in marriage with Miss Carrie E. Wheeler, and settled near Trumbull, where they lived 4 years. To this union 9 children were born, three, Frederick, Electa and Lester preceding their parents to the spirit world. The oldest J.P. Eller, now resides near Sandpoint , Idaho; Estella, Rose and Grace at Green River, Utah; David DeLloid at Belasore, India; and Hugh at Laramie, Wyoming. There also remains four sisters and four brothers. The oldest brother [James Calloway Eller] in California, the oldest sister [Henrietta Peck] in Iowa and one sister [Mary Angeline Hockett] in Denver. The rest in or near Clay county. In 1884 he moved with his family onto a homestead near Ainsworth , in Brown county [Nebraska]. It was here that he surrendered to the call of God to preach the Gospel, having resisted for some time, and changed his occupation three times in the effort to evade this call, be cause of lack of education or the necessary funds to provide for such needs. He preached his first sermon in a sod house where father Blakely was his pastor, and where the later was ordained a deacon and then as pastor. Residing on a farm he went out to needy churches of this sparsely settled country, often starting before daylight and walking 15 miles to preach at 11 a.m. In 1888 he returned to Harvard where he worked in a store or at paperhanging through the week and preached on Sunday till he received a call from the church at Glenville where he served for some time, and where he baptized 30 members. He went from Glenville to McCool Junction, where they spent eight happy years, part of the time serving three churches. It was here that with the assistance of Sister Emma Filman they conducted three revival services one Easter, with the prayer for 100 converts; and when at the close the converts were all counted and even 100 was the total. In March 1908, on account of failing health of his wife, he retired from the Gospel Ministry, settling on a sandhill homestead, near Ender Lake, and where in October he was called upon to lay to rest his beloved companion. After spending three years in undenominational christian work, he again sought a helpmate and in July 1912 was married to Magdalene Gueck of Trumbull and together they continued to minister to the spiritual needs of the people where he was called the "Shepherd of the Hills." In every rally or large gathering of the people he gave an invitation to accept Christ, with the result of from 3 to 20 responding. In October 1918 he again took up work for the denomination as pastor, but the flu developed valvular heart trouble from which cause the spirit went out to the God who gave it April 15, 1923, at the age of sixty-three years , 11 months and 11 days. Among the 12 or 15 men whom he helped start in the ministry were Ben Felman, Elisha Jackson and Brother Sturvidant . He was at church on Sunday morning from the county convention which he had attended that week at Thayer.

DEATH: David and his wife Magdalena Eller are buried in the Harvard Cemetery, West Addition, S.W. Lot, in Harvard, Clay County, Nebraska. The Harvard Cemetery records show David Eller, age 63, died 4/15/1923, and Magdalena Eller, age 99, died 9/9/1968. Also buried there is an Infant son of David Eller, with no age or dates given. They are buried near David's parents William and Catherine Eller.

IMMIGRATION: In April 1873, when David was nearly 14 years of age, he moved with his parents William M. and Catharine [Parnell] Eller from Iowa to a homestead 12 miles northwest of Harvard, Nebraska. In May of 1880 He and his bride settled near Trumbull, where they lived 4 years . In 1884 he moved onto a homestead near Ainsworth, in Brown County, Nebraska. In 1888 he returned to Harvard, Clay County, Nebraska. He then moved to Glenville, and then on to McCool Junction, about 1900, where he remained for 8 years. In 1908 he moved to a homestead near Ender Lake. His final resting place, at the end of his long journey, is Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, Clay County, Nebraska.
