Peter, son of John and Susannah Kerns Eller, was born 17 March, 1805 . He married 1st Fanny Yates, daughter of John and Elizabeth Cleveland. Peter and Fanny Yates Eller had 7 children. After her death, he married 2nd Louisa Church, on 16 Nov 1863, Louisa Church. They had 3 children, Gaither, Robert and Cora Eller, the last child being born after the death of her father. Peter Eller died on 7 Nov 1872.

His relationship as son of Joseph and Ann Murray is confirmed in a tree maintained in the May Memorial Library in Burlington, NC. The source of this relationship cited in that tree is Joan Murray 11/27/99. Further evidence that he is a son of Joseph is that, in the 1860 census , he was living right next door to James M. Murray (one of Joseph's sons) and William has the same profession as Joseph, i.e. chair maker. In addition there is a substantial gap which William would fit into in the ages of Joseph's children and early censuses suggest he had unidentified children, including a male in William's age range. Furthermore, William's name and middle initial is suggestive because Joseph's grandfather, the first of the clan in America, was named William and the middle initial could stand for Joseph. According to the 1880 census , William's parents were born in North Carolina. Joseph and Ann qualify on this count as well. William was also living in Alamance county at the time of the 1850 census, as well as the 1860 census (in the south western part of the County), in the same region where Joseph and Ann are believed to have lived. The Roster of Alamance County Troops from the Civil War lists a William J. Murray who enlisted on July 8, 1861 and was discharged in 1864. He was in Company I, Eighth Regiment. However, another source lists the age of this soldier at the time of enlistment as 35. This does not match the age of either of the two William J. Murrays listed in the 1860 census for Alamance County so I cannot be sure if this husband of Margaret is the soldier referred to in the Roster.
